The Advent Quiet Evening on Sunday, Dec. 6, was a beautiful time of quiet reflection on art, music and the spoken word. Alice Korfman provided the music and seven artists from the congregation created symbols for the Advent Antiphons which begin with “O”. The picture of the symbols on the altar are representative of the seven “O” antiphons. They are from left to right as follows:
- The first symbol “O Wisdom” was painted by Jeannette Stigger
- The second symbol “O Lord - who spoke through Moses” was painted by Brian Wooding
- The third symbol “O Branch of Jesse was created in fabrics by Nancy Sunderland
- The fourth symbol “O Key of David” is photographic work by Christine Rowe, with a real key
- The fith symbol “O Morning Star” was painted by Lynn Spence
- The sixth symbol “O King of the Nations” is multi-media created by Heather Luccock
- The seventh symbol “O Emmanuel” was painted by Mary Savage.
The symbols are on display in the Chapel |
