The Reverend
Christine Rowe
On Sunday, July 2nd, 2006,
the Canonical Committee announced that the Venerable Christine
Rowe had been selected as the new Rector of St. Catherine’s,
Capilano.
Christine was the Rector
at St. Thomas in Vancouver and also the Archdeacon of Burrard.
Christine has a husband, Stephen (Rector at Church of the
Epiphany, Surrey) and three children (Hannah, 18; Lucy, 16;
and Thomas, 12).
Christine has an impressive
resume which includes the following highlights: elementary
teacher in Britain (1978 to 1980), teacher for the Anglican
Church in Pakistan (1980 to 1982), worked for St. James Social
Services, Vancouver (1983), Parish Deacon, St. Mary’s
Denham, England (1986 to 1989), ordained to the diaconate
in April 1987, Parish deacon, St. Mary’s Aylesbury,
England (1989-1993), Associate Priest, St. John’s Caversham,
England (1993 to 2000), ordained to the priesthood in April
1994, priest in charge, St. Thomas, Vancouver (2000 to 2001)
and Rector, St. Thomas, Vancouver (2001 to 2006).
In addition Christine has
very active within the Diocese of New Westminster. Her current
responsibilities include: Dean of North Vancouver Deanery,
member of MCDC, and Mothers’ Union Diocesan Chaplain.

Rector's Warden

Gary Stewart
Completing his fourth year
as Rector's Warden. Gary's goal was to help provide leadership
and direction for the last years with our outgoing Rector
(John Mash) and the beginning of our ministry with our new
Rector (Chrsistine Rowe). He was very honored to have been
appointed Chair of the Canonical Committee which headed the
search for the new Rector. Gary and his wife, Donna joined
St. Catherine's just over 13 years ago. |

People's Warden

Eileen Wooding
First year as People’s
Warden, third year on Parish Council. Eileen also acts as
our Coordinator of Pastor Care and is a member of the Diocesan
W.G. Murrin Fund. She hopes to use her leadership and organizational
skills in her new role. Eileen and her husband, Brian, joined
St. Catherine’s 12 years ago on arrival from Ottawa.

Treasurer

Jim Westwell
Second year as our Treasurer
and Accountant. Previously served as Treasurer for a total
of eight years. Interested in seeing that St. Catherine’s
continues to be relevant in our community without discarding
family values. He is a recently retired Certified General
Accountant. Jim and his wife Shirley have been members of
St. Catherine’s for almost 30 years.

Susan
Kimm-Jones
Susan has been our Parish Administrator since 1992. Her responsibilities
are many and varied, primarily focused on facilitating communications
with parish committees, assisting the Rector with administration
duties and coordinating the booking of our buildings and facilities.

Evan Jennings
First year as Synod Delegate. Evan willingly
accepted an invitation to join Parish Council commenting that
“he knew it would be a joy and duty to do so.”
Evan, his wife Christy, along with their children Addy and
Bill began attending St. Catherine’s in 2005. |

Phyllis Mittlestead
Third consecutive term
on Parish Council as Synod Delegate. Also served on most recent
Canonical Committee. Phyllis is interested in many areas of
church activity particularly Outreach. Joined St. Catherine’s
in 1967 with her husband and four children. |

Monica MacDonald
First year as Synod Delegate.
Monica was pleased to be asked to join Parish Council and
take on a leadership role. St. Catherine’s has been
a special place for her since childhood and she looks forward
to offering her assistance to ensure the church remains and
important and vital part of the community. Monica has been
a member of St. Catherine’s since the 1960s. |

Lohralee Williams
First year as Synod Youth
Delegate. Lohralee is eager to learn how the church operates
and to contribute ideas whenever possible. She feels honored
to be on Parish Council. Lohralee’s family has attended
St. Catherine’s for over 20 years. |

Bonnie Grundy
Second term as Alternate
Synod Delegate. Served on Parish Council many times in the
past. Bonnie and her family have been members of St. Catherine’s
for 25 years. |

Vivian McGie
Second term as Alternate Synod Delegate,
Third year on Parish Council. Vivian has been involved with
numerous church groups and activities over the years. Presently
she is a Sunday School teacher, a member of the Altar Guild,
a Eucharistic administrator and a reader. Vivian has been
a member of St. Catherine’s for 40 years.

Leanne Armstrong
First year as Alternate
Synod Delegate. Leanne wants to make sure that young families
have a voice on council and that St. Catherine’s is
well positioned for the future. Leanne and her family joined
St. Catherine’s four years ago. |

Leslie Tarves
Second term as Alternate
Synod Delegate. Joined Parish Council to become a more active
member of the congregation and to provide representation for
the young families in the church. Leslie first attended St.
Catherine’s as a child and began attending regularly
again when her first child was ready for Sunday School. |

Jordan Whiteside
First year as Alternate
Synod Youth Delegate. Over the years Jordan has been involved
in many church related activities including: the Youth Group,
the Youth Choir, team of servers and the organization of the
Battle of the Bands in 2004 and 2005. Jordan’s family
are long time members of St. Catherine’s. |

Greg Crompton
Third year as Member-at-Large. Originally
chose to join Parish Council to make a greater contribution
to the church, especially with regard to organizing and planning.
He is part of a committee working to develop and grow our
Youth Group Program. Greg and his family have been members
of St. Catherine’s for almost 10 years.

Gaye McCance
First term as Member-at-Large.
Previously served on Parish Council for a total of four years.
During Gaye’s many years at St. Catherine’s she
has been involved in a great many activities including Sunday
School, Holly Fair, Christian Education and Liturgical Arts.
Gaye has been a member of St. Catherine’s for almost
45 years.
