In our prayers this week, 3rd Sunday of Epiphany The Episcopal / Anglican Province of Alexandria

We pray for our Companion Diocese:  The Episcopal Diocese of Northern Philippines, The Right Rev Benny Lang-akan, Bishop. We pray for our companion cluster parish of St. Catherine of Siena in Cervantes and The Rev. Gladys Pag, Bunga, Tadian.

In Canada we pray for Archbishop John, Primate of the Anglican Church of Canada the Rev. Dr. Eileen Scully, Director, and the staff of Faith, Worship, and Ministry; Bishop Michael Pryse, the people and rostered ministers of the Eastern Synod; The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity and the ecumenical work and witness of our churches

In our Province we pray for our Metropolitan, Archbishop John.

We have started again new for January, please send in your prayers to the office. These prayers will come down after Easter. 

Purpose: This position at St Catherine’s Anglican Church seeks to empower and support our congregation in their relationships within the parish and their engagement to its broader community. We are seeking someone who will strengthen the internal and external communication of the St. Catherine’s congregation.

Job Description: This part-time communications position enhances our internal communication, and supports the ministries of the Parish Council by engaging online and paper-based communication tools for the broader neighbourhood and beyond. This position reports directly to our Priest-in-Charge. Working from a home office is preferred.

Remuneration: $27.50/hr for 8-10 hours a week.
Term: This is a part time, contract position for a 1-year renewable.

On this Soul Food Sunday, we will gather with strangers and friends around the breakfast table to hear sacred story and share some of our own. Communion is administered around the tables. Breakfast is provided, come along and participate in this meaningful form of community worship.

Group begins again on Tuesday February 4th, 2025, from 7 - 8:15 pm on Zoom. 

We are thrilled to be continuing our pursuit of spiritual practices at Saint Catherine’s. And you are invited to go deeper with us. This season we will be on a grand adventure of discovery, as we uncover another perspective of Jesus as THE WISDOM JESUS. 

This year we will be working with Cynthia Bourgeault’s book: The Wisdom Jesus: Transforming Heart and Mind - A New Perspective on Christ and his Message.  There are copies available at the church ($25 each), or you can get a kindle or audio version available from Amazon. 

Structure of the evening:

• Teaching and Discussion time (7 - 7:45 pm),
• and a Spiritual Practice time (7:45 - 8:15 pm).

We look forward to a rich and transformative time together in the presence of Spirit, for our own growth, AND to bring love, hope and compassion to the world around us.

On Saturday, January 18, 2025 the House of Bishops and the Provincial Council of the Ecclesiastical Province of British Columbia and Yukon elected Bishop John Stephens as the next Metropolitan. 

Acting Primate, The Most Rev. Anne Germond said that “it was a privilege for me to chair the electoral synod for the position of Metropolitan in the ecclesiastical province of BC-Yukon today. Warmest congratulations to Archbishop John Stephens on his election as the Metropolitan. I look forward to working with you in the days ahead and assure you of my support and prayers as you assume the mantle of leadership at what is a difficult time for you personally. The Province of BC-Yukon also remains in my prayers in this time of transition and change.  

I would like to extend my deepest thanks to Bishop Lynne McNaughton for her leadership as the former Metropolitan, and to Bishop David Lehmann for his leadership in the interim period. We have been blessed by your wise, generous and faithful service for the building up of the church of God in BC-Yukon and more widely in the Anglican Church of Canada for the common good.  

This election is not just about the selection of an individual—it is about strengthening our collective commitment to leadership, collaboration, and the growth of our beloved church. Each of us plays a vital role in upholding the values that define us as Anglican Christians as we deepen our lives in Christ.” 

With his election as Metropolitan, Bishop Stephens becomes Archbishop. He remains the head of the Diocese of New Westminster and in addition to his duties is responsible for the Ecclesiastical Province of BC and Yukon. His title is now Archbishop, referred to as the Most Rev. John Stephens.
