Genesis 32: 22-32
Limping toward Reconciliation Limping toward Reconciliation

Spiritual stories are meant to be pondered, turned over in our thinking, in our talking, in our dreaming, in our living. That is why Jesus used parables. It is part of the Jewish tradition of the Hebrew Bible – like our first reading today.

Today I am going to invite you into the story of the life of Jacob. I am going to invite you to turn off the questioning mind that asks – is this true, is this history…And simply enter into this as a story, a human tale, that for centuries has intrigued, inspired and transformed human beings.  And this story is for you to chew on, not for your neighbour, our church, your brother, your daughter, your partner. It is for you.

EAT YOUR OWN FRUIT (by Anthony De Mello)

A disciple once complained: “You tell us stories, but you never reveal their meaning to us.” Said the Master: “How would you like it if someone offered you fruit and masticated (chewed) it before giving it to you?”
