At St. Catherine’s, we grow in faith not only through Sunday worship but also through study, prayer, and reflection—ways of listening for the movement of the Spirit in our own lives and in the world around us.

Formation can happen anywhere: in the silence of prayer, around a table with friends, in service to others, or while walking beneath the trees.

Wherever we begin, the invitation is the same—to go deeper with God.

Spiritual Practices

Spiritual practices are simple, prayerful ways of drawing closer to God. They help us listen, rest, and respond to the Holy Spirit’s presence in the midst of ordinary life. For Anglicans, these practices connect our private prayer with our shared worship, grounding both in rhythm and grace.

Here are a few ways you might explore:

  • Daily Office – praying Morning and Evening Prayer using the Book of Alternative Services or Book of Common Prayer.
  • Lectio Divina – slowly reading a passage of Scripture and noticing what word or phrase speaks to the heart.
  • Personal Prayer & Bible Reading – setting aside quiet time each day for conversation with God.
  • Anglican Rosary – using a circle of beads to guide prayer and reflection.
  • Praying with Icons or Images – letting sacred art become a window into divine mystery.
  • Walking & Labyrinth Prayer – praying with the body, one step at a time.
  • Stewardship as Practice – offering our time, talents, and resources as acts of gratitude and trust.

Each practice is simply another doorway into relationship with God—personal yet always connected to the wider Body of Christ. You’re invited to try one, return to a favourite, or discover something new.

If you’d like to explore a practice, join us for a Quiet Day, or develop a personal rule of life, speak with Rev. Sarah or connect through the parish office. We would love to walk with you on this journey of faith.

Seasons of Formation

Throughout the year we offer opportunities to pause, pray, and learn together. These include small-group studies in Advent and Lent, book studies, quiet days, and occasional retreats.

Details about upcoming gatherings are posted on our News & Events page.

Quiet Days

Quiet Days are short, retreat-style gatherings at the church—usually lasting a few hours—focused on reflection, rest, and renewal. Through guided prayer, conversation, silence, and gentle rhythm, we set aside time to listen for God’s voice amid daily life.
