According to Romans 12:6 " We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith." And as for Nancy Sunderland who has been given the gift of creativity, she is using this gift by creating a new banner for our church.

Last September 8th, Nancy Sunderland turned over her intricately designed handmade banner to the church.

The banner which is now standing in the sanctuary as a symbol of what St. Catherines values and what it strives to be, is made of mixed fabrics; some are from Nancy's collected stash and some are new "just like St. Catherine's," as she described it.

Nancy had been working on the said banner over the spring and summer months. The banner is inspired by St. Catherine's logo and tagline 'Open To The Light.' The dark blue background fabric represents the darkness. "Our logo symbolizes 'Open to the Light' of a changing paradigm - one of transition, an awakening to a deeper understanding of our faith, our love for God within ourselves, other people and the world," she explained.

St. Catherine's values: Welcoming, Inclusive, Curious, Creative, Sustainable, Caring, and Humble are also stitched on the banner, to remind everyone what our community aspires to be.

Nancy also shared that it has been an honour for her to do it as St. Catherine's has shaped her faith since early childhood up to this day.

We are excited to see the new banner welcoming us at the church! And we are beyond grateful to Nancy for sharing her talent with us.
