The Anglican Church has tangible ways for you to help those who have been impacted by the terrible wildfires that have taken lives, homes, and livelihoods in Lytton and the surrounding areas.
1. Pray it forward Please include the Steering Committee of the Territory of the People, including Archbishop Lynne McNaughton; the Rev. Angus Muir, priest of Lytton; the indigenous leadership of the Nlaka’pamux people; the leaders and first responders of Lytton village and band, and all who are coming to assist in support and recovery.
O God, you are our refuge and our strength, our help in times of trouble: Have mercy on the lands and communities devastated by fires, and especially the people of the village of Lytton and Lytton First Nations. Have mercy on those who have lost lives, lost homes and livelihoods. Protect those who have had to evacuate. Bless and keep safe all firefighters. And strengthen those who seek to rebuild hope that all may face the future without fear. We pray this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Saviour. Amen.
2. Pay it forward Instead of gathering up food or clothing, our financial donations will go where help is most needed now. You can mail donations directly to the diocesan office of the Territory of the People to be distributed as emergency cash through the clergy to those in immediate need: Send cheques to: Territory of the People 360 Nicola Street, Kamloops, BC V2C 2P5 Or you can give online through the Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund, marking your emergency relief donation for “Lytton fire”.
You can also give through St Catherine’s Sunday offering in the collection plate. Please mark your envelope with “PWRDF- Lytton fire” and the donation will be recorded and passed through the diocese.
