According to the Daily Telegraph, the Most Reverend Justin Welby, the most senior bishop in the Church of England, has been making regular visits to St Thomas’ Hospital from his nearby London apartment to comfort the sick. Like other chaplains working in covid-19 wards across the UK, he has undergone special training in infection control and wears personal protective equipment. A source close to the Archbishop, 64, said, “Justin has been a volunteer chaplain at St Thomas’ Hospital since lockdown, working alongside other chaplains praying for the sick and dying. “There is some personal risk but he doesn’t really think about that. He just thinks this is what Christians should be doing, helping others.”
