Q:  Whats happening around the Chapel Floor?

Answer: Since September, our contractors have been working on the new chapel floor made from the wood of the pews from the church and chapel. The pews have now been removed, dismantled and milled into planks for the new floor. However, the work ran into some unexpected delays and additional costs due to settlement of the chapel floor over time and the need to remove the plinth (raised floor) at the front of the chapel. The contractors have added a layer of self-levelling compound and removed the plinth, and layed the wood. They are currently sanding the new floor boards. The next steps are to seal the floor, which they expect to complete in week or so, and then repaint the walls.

We’re looking forward to making the chapel available from mid-December for quiet contemplation, small worship services and parish meetings. The altar will be movable for different types of services.
